A How To describing how to block access to your site by IP Range
Manual IP Range Blocking To Complete Site Access Control
We discussed elsewhere how we can use the Addon Pack Site Access Control System to block site access by country and by agent. Manual IP Range blocking completes our toolset in controlling access to our community site. Listing Blocked IP Ranges enables us to prevent malicious attacks directed at our sites by responding with a 404 Not-Found for any and all requests.
We enter an IP range when we spot suspicious activity from a particular client location, typically a high volume of hits indicating an attempt to penetrate our site or uncover some vulnerability. Here is the Manual IP Range Management form where we can add, update and remove blocked IP Ranges. The ranges/countries shown are fictitious.

Uncovering Suspicious Access Activity
It's very important to be able to monitor site access, so we made sure to include access activity data in the Manual IP Blocking module. Here is the entire page with site activity data listed at right arranged by number of hits.

Here is a closer view where you can see that the Remote IPs are hyperlinks. This is so that you can use your favorite Geo-Location IP Lookup service to determine the origin of any suspicious IP. Like the Request Activity data table for the Agent Blocker module, you can purge all records from the Sueetie Request Logs for any Remote IP address.

You can enter your Geo-Location Lookup Url on the Sueetie Addon Pack Settings Page.
