Using and Customizing the Login and Registration Placeholder Controls
Accommodating Sueetie's Site Registration Options
Sueetie supports five site registration options: Automatic, Email Authentication, Administrative Approval, Invitation Only, and Closed. We needed smart "Login" and "Join" links to accommodate them, so we provide
LoginPlaceHolder and
RegistrationPlaceHolder controls to do the job.
Login Placeholder Control
Both the LoginPlaceHolder and RegistrationPlaceHolder controls are used in the UserMenu.ascx control. In the Lollipop theme that would be located at /themes/lollipop/menus/UserMenu.ascx.
Let's look at the Login Placeholder Control in action. You will notice that the controls are fully localized. The main objective of the Login Placeholder is to provide an option for displaying a "Login" link when registration is closed.
Registration Placeholder Control
The RegistrationPlaceHolder is designed primarily to support the Invitation Only registration option. Here is the control HTML. The three display options are
Closed, Register, and
InviteOnly. Closed and InviteOnly are self-explanatory. "Register" covers all other registration options: Automatic, Email Verification and Administrative Approval.
